Become Unshakeable: A 12-Week Workbook to Transform Your Life
Five years ago, I was the person who apologized for existing.
I second-guessed every decision. I avoided difficult conversations. I changed my entire personality based on who I was with. I felt like I was constantly walking on eggshells in my own life.
And the worst part? I thought that’s just who I was. That some people are naturally confident, and I simply wasn’t one of them.
I was wrong.
Why I Created the Unshakeable Workbook (And Why You Can Pay What You Can)
Five years ago, I was drowning.
Not literally—but close enough that some days it felt the same. I was a community counselor at a nonprofit agency, working with clients who desperately needed help, for pay that barely covered my rent, on a schedule that had me seeing back-to-back crisis sessions with no time to breathe between them.
I was absorbing everyone’s trauma with nowhere for it to go. Compassion fatigue doesn’t even begin to describe it.
And the worst part? I thought being exhausted, burned out, and constantly on the edge of breaking down was just part of being a “good helper.” That sacrifice was noble but it supported the falsehood that my needs didn’t matter as much as everyone else’s.
I was wrong.
The Breaking Point
It happened on a Thursday afternoon after my seventh session of the day. A client had just shared something deeply traumatic, and before I could even process it, I had another knock on my door. Another crisis. Another person who needed me to hold space for their pain.
I remember sitting in my car afterward, completely numb, and realizing: I had spent so much time holding everyone else up that I had completely forgotten how to stand on my own.
The agency didn’t care. There was no supervision that actually supported us—just paperwork checks and productivity metrics. No time for self-care between sessions. No acknowledgment that we were human beings absorbing intense suffering day after day. And definitely no pay that reflected the emotional labor we were doing.
We were told to be grateful for the “meaningful work.” Meanwhile, I was making $44,000 a year with a master’s degree, working 50-hour weeks, and could barely afford therapy for myself—which I desperately needed.
That Thursday, sitting in my car, I made a decision: Either I learn how to become unshakeable, or I leave this field entirely.
I chose to stay. But I had to completely rebuild myself first.
What “Unshakeable” Really Means
Here’s what I learned through that brutal season: Being unshakeable doesn’t mean you never feel exhausted or overwhelmed. It means you have roots deep enough that you don’t lose yourself while helping others.
Think about a tree in a storm. It bends. It sways. The wind might strip away some leaves. But it doesn’t uproot. It doesn’t give everything it has until there’s nothing left. It stays rooted while the storm passes through.
That’s what I needed to become. Not a martyr. Not someone who poured from an empty cup until I collapsed. But someone who could do meaningful work without sacrificing my entire sense of self.
The Five-Year Journey
I started documenting everything that helped me transform from burned-out counselor to someone who could hold space for others without losing myself in the process.
I learned about:
- Boundaries (radical ones—not the weak ones they taught us in grad school)
- Energy management (because compassion fatigue is real and nobody warns you)
- Self-worth separate from productivity (the hardest one for helpers)
- Recognizing when I was performing instead of being authentic (even with myself)
- Stopping the pattern of seeking validation through overgiving (ouch)
Every tool I found that worked, I wrote down. Every breakthrough that helped me feel solid again, I documented. Every practice that let me do meaningful work without destroying myself, I kept.
Because I knew—I just knew—that if these tools saved me, they could save other helpers too.
Why I Left the Agency (And What I Learned)
Eventually, I did leave that agency. Not because I stopped caring about the work, but because I finally understood that staying in a system that treats helpers as disposable isn’t noble—it’s complicit.
But here’s what makes me angry: The resources that actually helped me recover? Most of them cost hundreds of dollars. Courses that cost $500. Workbooks priced at $200. Coaching programs at $2,000.
And I kept thinking about all the other counselors, social workers, nonprofit staff, teachers, healthcare workers—all the helpers who are barely surviving on low pay while being told their work is “priceless.” How are they supposed to afford the very resources they need to keep doing that work?
And then I went deeper and thought about all the community activists and people who volunteer at their community centers, their religious communities, the local food banks, and just simply providing mutual aid. There are so many people that give so much of themselves to help others, they need a life vest like I did.
That’s why I created the Unshakeable Workbook with pay-what-you-can pricing.
Because the people who need this most are often the ones who can least afford it.
What’s Inside the Workbook
The Unshakeable Workbook is a complete 12-week transformation system—the exact process that took me from burned-out and breaking to rooted and resilient. Here’s what you get:
12 Weekly Modules
Each week focuses on a different aspect of building unshakeable foundations, all organized around nature-inspired themes:
- Rooting Deep (Building foundations when you’ve been uprooted)
- Weathering Storms (Resilience for when everything feels like too much)
- Pruning Limiting Beliefs (Especially “I have to sacrifice myself to be valuable”)
- Nourishing Growth (Radical self-care for people who give everything away)
- Branching Out (Rediscovering who you are outside of helping others)
- And 7 more transformational weeks…
Weekly Practices
Each week includes specific practices to integrate what you’re learning: boundary-setting exercises, energy protection techniques, compassion fatigue recovery tools, and authentic self-reconnection practices.
Progress Tracking
Watch yourself transform from someone who’s barely holding it together to someone who’s genuinely unshakeable—not because you’re hard, but because you’re deeply rooted.
This Workbook Is For You If…
✓ You’re a helper (counselor, social worker, teacher, nurse, nonprofit worker) who’s exhausted
✓ You give everything to everyone else and have nothing left for yourself
✓ You’ve absorbed so much trauma you’ve forgotten how to feel okay
✓ You work too many hours for too little pay and feel guilty for being tired
✓ You’ve been told “self-care” so many times it’s lost all meaning
✓ You need boundaries but don’t know how to set them without feeling selfish
✓ You’re ready to feel solid in yourself again without leaving the helping field
Why Pay What You Can?
I believe helpers shouldn’t have to choose between recovering from compassion fatigue and paying their rent.
Your low salary shouldn’t determine your ability to heal. Your nonprofit’s unwillingness to support you shouldn’t mean you can’t support yourself.
So here’s how it works:
Retail Value: $25
Your Price: Pay what you can (minimum $5)
Every price point is honored. Every contribution matters. Your healing is what’s important—not the number on your receipt.
My Promise to You
This isn’t another self-care suggestion to “just take a bubble bath” while your agency expects you to work 50 hours for 30 hours of pay.
This is a complete system for rebuilding yourself from the ground up. For learning to do meaningful work without martyring yourself. For developing boundaries that protect you without making you feel guilty.
I’m not promising you’ll never feel tired. I’m promising you’ll learn to honor that tiredness instead of pushing through it until you break.
I’m not promising your agency will suddenly start supporting you. I’m promising you’ll learn to support yourself even when they don’t.
I’m not promising you’ll never absorb pain. I’m promising you’ll learn to release it instead of carrying it until it destroys you.
Ready to Begin?
If you’re tired of pouring from an empty cup and ready to feel deeply rooted again, the Unshakeable Workbook is waiting for you.
It’s a 12-week journey. It requires honesty, vulnerability, and choosing yourself—which might be the hardest thing you’ve ever done if you’re a helper.
But on the other side? You’ll still be able to do meaningful work. You just won’t be sacrificing yourself to do it anymore.

One More Thing…
If you’re a helper reading this and thinking “I can’t afford even $5 right now because I’m literally choosing between this and groceries,” please email me. Seriously.
I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to make poverty wages while doing invaluable work. Nobody should be locked out of healing because the system that broke them pays them nothing.
We’ll figure something out.
Because here’s what I know for sure: The people who spend their lives helping everyone else deserve to feel unshakeable too. Especially you.
